Digital Devices-- YES AGAIN!

Many of you have different opinions about bringing digital devices to school. If you could bring ONE digital device to school to help you learn, what would it be? How would that device help you learn? (For example, if you pick an I-Phone, I am curious to know how an I-Phone might help you learn? What could you use it for?)

  1. I would like to be able to bring my i-pod to school because i belive that with this device, it will help me concetrate with my work. And ill get my work done faster. Because when i listen to my i-pod i get work done faster and it actually gets stuck in my head. Its also good for putting your notes on their. Because it gets boring just sittin there in the quiet. Its annoying because its just so quiet.

  2. Well you could use a I-Phone as a calculator or on the internet, and still pay attention in class, but one of the devices i would bring to school would be my phone.

  3. i think that we should be allowd to bring music player because some people consentrate more like that but it should be allowd only when we are doing work not when the teacher is talking

  4. I couldn't agree with you more, Stephanie. You could use your I-phone to research stuff on the internet or create a really cool podcast about something you have learned. What a much more cool way to show the teacher you know something than to do a yucky poster. Great thinking!

  5. Maybe i'll help the student because when the student listens to music it gets their mood on and when they get to school (they take the bus to school and listen to music) their happy beacause they listen to a song they like>

  6. i would like to bring a small laptop so we have so accses to more places or probably an iphne cause is like a smaller laptop. . . .

  7. I think teachers, counselors, and principles should be more leneant when it comes to cell-phones. If you see it and we're not playing around with it then don't take it away. That's dumb.

  8. In my school SWMS it woudl be more better that we use the best electrical devices right now, from SWMS.

  9. i would bring an iphone because we could use as reasearch in class while also listening to music we like

  10. The I phone could help us by searching up stuff in Google for example. If you have a project about animals or cells or anything else you can just go and use ur I phone or psp.The school could provide us something like that then we could just pay half of the price for the electronic device.

  11. Do you all think more kids have an iphone or a laptop at home? Do most of your friends have access to the internet outside of school?

    ReplyDelete
  12. i would bring a g1 cuz it has complete access to internet

  13. i would want to be able to use eaither or ipod or our cell phones

  14. Not everyone has an I-Phone. So I dont think it would be fair that all these other students have something and most [some) are singled out. It would be best for the district to cool down about bringing MP3's and Phones. Dont take it away imediatly just let them have it while its off atleast.

  15. i think that we should be able to bring electronices cause some electronices help u constentrate like ipods mp3s and i phones

  16. Provide students with better supplies. Dont spend the schools money on something not even important to the kids learning.

  19. Either a laptop or an MP3 player. A laptop can help you do things like solve math problems. An MP3 player can help us, too. Music helps me study. So, if we could listen to our MP3 player while we're working, that would be cool (I mean, if we're too busy listening to the music so we don't do the work, that's OUR fault).

  20. Its said that people concentrate more on the thing they are doing while listening to music. We should be allowed to bring an I-Phone. We can take notes in it so we wont have to worry about writing...or sloppy writers.

  23. Do most kids have a phone with internet? Not necessarily an I-Phone, but another kind of phone? Or, are most phones kids have for calling people and texting?

    ReplyDelete
  24. I would bring my Ipod, because it helps me concentrate while listening to music doing class work, not when the teacher is teaching.

  26. I think that bringing devices like a cell phone to school would be good... and i have one very interesting idea of a way we could use it but it would be good for teachers too... if we get bored after we've done all of our work and we've done it right... we get to be on our cell phones... and when the teachers tell us we have to put it up we will..

  40. We have phones to text basically.

    ReplyDelete
  41. We are looking at making I-Touch available on campuses for kids to use. Your library should already have some of this kind of technology. do you all at SWMS get to go to the library when you need to go (for research and stuff)?

  42. I think mobile devices for school is an excelent idea, if the school would let me, I would bring my Nokia N810, I have a TI Emulator I use on there I use so I don't have to buy an actual TI calculator for about 100$, I'm pretty sure there are TI emulators for Ipod touch as well, this will definately useful. These mobile devices could also help students access teacher's blogs, SBISD website, etc.

  44. i go to SWHS and i really wish i could bring my laptop to class instead of having to carry around a binder i could be able to carry it around and i would never again lose an assignment because it would be on the computer

  45. springwoods student,

i would bring my iphone because instead of going to the library..you can get look it up on your phone.

  46. I attend Spring Woods High,
If i could choose a digital device it would be a cell phone. I wouldnt use it to learn just to chat with other people.I think any digital device would be a distracton to learn

  47. I would bring a laptop because you can get done with your work a lot faster and i think you can learn more stuff like that to me

  48. I would choose the I-Touch because there are many useful and helpful apps that can be used for school work. One cool thing teachers can use is a feature called podcasts. A podcast is a video recording that can be used for many ocassions like, assigining homework or projects, also give explanations for specific things.

  50. Sudent laptops would help us learn by loading texts books loaded onto the laptop. This would help by that each student could contact the teacher for help.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Well I'm not really sure, but probably a laptop. Just so we can have the textbooks online, and if the teacher needs us to type a paper we have something to type it on. I know we have school computers, but it's not open during the weekend, and some students don't have transportation to the local library.

  53. At Spring Woods, I believe we should be able to use our electronics during lunch. it is our only free time of the day at school. I also know it could cause problems with people texting people that are already in class, but I believe if that person in class is texting, then they will have to suffer there punishment because they know they can just text when it’s their turn at lunch or listen to their music or anything.

  54. Im from Spring Woods and i have acouple of things that I think would help me learn. First I would like my I-pod,or mp3 because this way I would cosintrait because im shut off from other destactions. Next labtops the school system waists money on things every year. If the school system got labtops for every student they could have down loaded text books and lessons could be on the computer. It would make the load of things that we have to carry go way down

  55. i would bring an iphone because it is small and portable and has internet access,a calculator and youtube for videos so u could see current events and educational videos

    ReplyDelete
  56. i dont want to be negative but people could use the music player to play there tests answers or notes without anyone knowing

  57. I would bring my iPod because I have a way to download review sheets onto it and then I can study during school! Also music is a way that I concentrate better so I could listen to music without distracting anyone else.

  58. A laptop. It has the whole packet - internet, calculator, word processor, and music player. it would make taking notes so much quicker and would leave more time for hands-on activities, it also would reduce paper use.

An itouch because it has music, internet, calculator, and other things that can be used for school research. But its not a phone so there wont be any texting.

  60. My name is Al, I'm a senior at Stratford, and I have a voice recording device on my Iphone that if I could use it, would help me to retain information. As an audio learner, this would be great for studying. recording devices should be allowed, even if it is the Iphone.

    ReplyDelete
  61. My name is Samantha Ehlinger and I'm a junior at Stratford and I would love to be able to bring my laptop. Taking notes on a computer is much easier than taking them on paper, and they never get lost! I could record notes with an audio recording device or type them up on word or text edit. It would be a very easy way to stay organized, plus I could access the online textbooks for my classes and not have to bring those to school either!

  63. if we can bring an i pod to school. We can add a app on the i pod. For the thing that we need help on. some of the students don't under stand some teachers and the app mate help us a lot more.

  64. If we could bring laptops to school it would be assume. i think this because when our teacher tells us to take notes some people have bad hand righting to if you have a laptop you don't have to worry about hand writing. Also i think this because some people use the computer so much that they have fun do anything with it.I say thins because i don't think i have the best right and when i rush (witch i do all the time) my hand writing is allover the place. I think this would really help. I a student from Spring Wood Middle School think we should have laptops.

  65. If someday all of the schools could have i phones I would have the teachers keep them away until needed. Sometimes a few kids will need to go to the library beacause we dont have computers in the class room. Its like a tiny computer that doesnt take up space. It's a good idea- Spring Branch Middle

    ReplyDelete
  66. Laptops would be nice. Spring Branch Middle School would supply laptops for students. It would help with projects, homework, or anything else that needed to be done.

  67. I would like to bring a mac laptop to school because I could do my research in class instead of going to the computer lab. Also, if I had a question I could ask my teacher because she's in the room with everybody.

I would also use it to find answers for my questions on google.

  68. The i phone would help you learn because, you can go on the internet to search up things you might need to know. Or check answers with your i phone calculater.
